Audition

Interested in auditioning and being a part of Aria? This is the right place to be! Please read the notes below, and if you dare to, follow the instructions to audition!

Things to Note;
1. Our most important requirement of all, is that potential singers must be able to hold a melody. We don’t expect you to be on-tune 100% of the time, but we don’t want you sending us a lazy recording with sub-par lines.

2. We’re not looking for divas, we’re looking for new friends. So if all you like to do is brag about how good your singing is, then I’m afraid this probably isn’t the right place for you.

3. We reserve a right to reject your application on the grounds that we do not feel you’re acceptable vocally. It does not mean we don’t like you, really, so please don’t take it to heart, and if you’re determined, work on improving and audition again in the future. ♥`

4. Please do not join the forum until you have been accepted as a member.

How to Audition;
1. Aria has auditions open twice a year. You may audition during our summer or winter auditions which are held:

  • Summer: June 1st – July 31st
  • Winter: December 1st – January 31st

2. Record a song of your choice, preferably one that showcases your vocal range and abilities to its fullest (doesn’t have to, but it helps us to acknowledge your ability better). All auditions can be mixed with an instrumental or performed acapella.
Please sing a full song for us to evaluate. Remember, this is the song we’ll judge you by, so make it your best! You do not have to record a brand new song for auditioning, but the song should be fairly new, just to keep things fresh. Any and all languages are acceptable, though you may like to keep in mind Aria tends to focus on Japanese, Korean and English music.
In addition to your a song of your own choice, please record the medley/scales file provided below so we can further assess what you can and cannot do. If there is something you are not comfortable singing, that’s fine. Feel free to not sing that part. It won’t count against you, up to three silenced areas. Meaning, if you don’t like to rap, sing high notes, and they are in the medley, then you can skip that and we will acknowledge it as a point of weakness.

3. Upload your song to a fileserver (preferably one that doesn’t delete things frequently, such as Box.net, MediaFire, Soundclick or Megaupload) which we can download/stream it from.
